Welcome to my website.
I have been taking pictures since the early 1970's when at school in Lancashire, and this has continued to the present day.
Most of my work is of railways, both in the UK and overseas, covering both contemporary operation as well as preservation. There will in due course also be some military aviation and some road transport.
It is my intention to start building the site with digital images taken over the last year or so, and then move to scanning slides from earlier periods. These notes will be updated as the site develops and time permits!
My particular thanks must go to Murray & Jonathan Lewis, without whose advice and help my digital "adventure" might well never have happened.

Another superb event at the GCR with visiting 9F & WD 2-8-0 being just right for the line and bringing a strong 1950's flavour.
The weather on the Saturday was somewhat trying and some shots under cloudy skies have have been converted to B&W in a separate collection.
Please note that the trackside shots are taken courtesy of a lineside permit issued by the railway - this holds for all such views in the gallery.

A fun day out - even if a Deltic on single track with four foreign coaches is a little incongruous! I was pleased to see the railway asking for a "voluntary" donation from linesiders to help support this event.
All the views are near to Castor, walking each way from the crossing.

Highlights from the final Quarter of the year, which will be updated as time goes by.
Writing at the end of October I have to say that the poor weather of the summer has persisted, making what is potentially the most photogenic month of the year very hard going- all those 60's back too!

A hugely successful event, with visiting Deltic 55019 the star of the show and 50007 not far behind!
From the home team, the recently shopped 4BIG unit looked splendid, with good support from all the rest.
Near perfect weather on the Friday & Saturday made this a bonanza for photographers.

 | | July - September, 2009
A lovely Summer's afternoon at Watford Village, with lots of variety, to start - but a bit downhill thereafter! Much time & petrol was spent on the diversions arising from the Scunthorpe blockade, with little of any quality to show.
In August a week's railrover in the somewhat damp Northwest was both very enjoyable and great value. A few good days in September in my local East Midlands were grabbed with both hands, whilst "Ye Olde Duffs" on 6Z48 gave focus and hope to each week.

 | | A day at Water Orton and the Northampton Loop
Lots of action at Water Orton including 60040 and the new "60" Tornado.
A mid afternoon move to Watford and Long Buckby made for a further three hours of shooting as the longest day drew near.

A very absorbing day in the early Spring, covering a number of the popular locations in the area.

 | | April - June, 2009
Some very pleasant Spring days around my local area of Stamford, and across the wider East Midlands.
There were also some forays to the northwest, with the shots en route much more plentiful than those in Cumbria!
